Several of our clients have been affected by the outage at GoDaddy today, creating the worst kind of situation for a client-services business: our customers need help and we can’t help them.

Until GoDady fixes the servers affected by this attack, all we can do is sit and wait.

However, we can offer some advice to our clients and anyone currently using GoDaddy: abandon ship!

We’ve grown increasingly tired of the endless upsells, sexist advertising campaign, support of legislation like SOPA, and, perhaps most importanly, the technical ineptitude at GoDaddy. Rather than working on improving customer experience, GoDaddy has addressed these concerns by having sales reps call us repeatedly, making their service more annoying than ever before. All of this combined with today’s outage means we’re advising our customers to leave the service.

If you’re interested in transferring to a service that doesn’t buy sexy superbowl ads and instead just offers great service, we recommend Hover provide domain registration and email services. They don’t upsell, they don’t harass, and basics like WhoIs privacy is offered free of charge, as it should be.
