Steve, your Sony A1U should have a DV output, so you should be able to run your XLR source into the Sony and then run a Firewire cable to your Mac and record both using BoinxTV.

I'm looking for a setup that can take in an XLR input from the house system and a component or composite video input from a similar (A1U) Sony camera - preferably some external hardware. Ideally it would be an external hookup that we could use to capture HD footage and the XLR sound input, and then record it on the computer to an MPEG or other video file. Do you have any ideas?

Would I consider a live <a href="www.ossian.tv rel="nofollow">corporate video production set up?

Why not!
